Foundation is our middle school faith formation program that is offered 4 evenings in the summer or 1 Wednesday a month throughout the school year for students who attend public school in grades 6th-8th. Foundation's interactive curriculum follows a 3-year cycle: All about the Bible, Catholic Social Teaching, and All about the Mass. This is not your traditional classroom way of learning. A team of awesome high energy adults lead the middle schoolers through games, talks, and small group discussion each night. This dynamic method of faith formation engages their minds, but also connects 6th, 7th, and 8th graders more personally with their faith community to help foster their personal relationship with Jesus.
In addition, we encourage your middle schooler to bring a friend and join us one or two Wednesdays a month throughout the school year from 6:30 - 7:45 PM to build community with their Resurrection peers and put their faith in action.
Foundation Community Nights - hang out, learn about a Saint, play games
Foundation Faith in Action Nights - go out in the community and serve

Having never been a teacher, how do I learn to teach?
Your CRE will assist you. In-services are provided several times a year that deal with effective teaching techniques as well as growing in your faith.
Who will assist me with lesson plans?
The teaching guides are designed for the non-professional teacher. They are user friendly and have a multitude of ideas on how to prepare and present lessons.
Without a background in theology, how am I able to pass on the faith?
The role of catechists is not based on a professional background in theology, rather, the ability to share faith, live faith, and journey with young people as their faith develops and matures.
What if I don’t know the answers to the questions young people ask?
It is perfectly okay to say “I don’t know, but I will find out.” Resources are available through your DRE and the Archdiocese. You will learn together with young people.
Please contact the parish’s Coordinator of Youth Faith Formation, Emily Tatum, at (563) 556-7511 or dbq058ff2@dbqarch.org for more information on how you can give of your time and talent.
