Fraudulent Emails

The archdiocese has received reports of fraudulent emails that appear to be coming from pastors. These emails are part of an international scheme that has emerged over the past few years in which parishioners are tricked into believing that their pastor is requesting money or gift cards for various needs through a series of messages.

Again, these are fraudulent emails. Official priest email addresses end in These emails come from different addresses, often disguised to look like personal Gmail accounts. The body of these messages are generic and include phrases like “Are you in the office now?” and “How are you? Please contact me.”

Neither Fr. Phil nor any of the staff would ask for gift cards, and especially not by email, so please ignore these emails. If you receive one, it is a scam.
